Caring for jewelry

While we at killerheels handmake our products with love and care, wear and tear is inevitable. Well cared for items usually last longer. In the event that your jewelry spoils, do not hesitate to email us for help!

Materials used

Our materials and supplies are sourced from all over the world, mainly United States, Japan and of course Singapore.

We use mainly materials like natural raw brass or antiqued plated gold findings in our products. As a result, we do not advise you to buy our jewelry if you have sensitive skin. It would be more advisable for you to buy jewelry made from sterling silver or nickel free material.

Raw brass has not been plated in any way and will eventually oxidise. If you are not comfortable with this, please only buy plated jewelry. The appearance of antiqued plated gold will change little with time but the gold plating will eventually fade with time. This is a fact of all costume jewelry. Hence, it is necessary to take good care of your costume jewelry.

Our jewelry also contains minute components and charms that are made from lead free pewter. Hence our jewelry is unsuitable for children.

How to take care of raw brass?

Raw brass will eventually tarnish and age with time to a lovely bronze colour. If your brass jewelry looks dull or spotted, you can clean them with some brass polish. After using the brass polish, wash the charm with dish detergeant and water and dry immediately.

How to take care of our handmade charms?

While we take reasonable efforts to seal our handmade charms, our handmade charms are not meant to be placed under running water or soaked in water. Please remember to dry your bracelet or ring immediately after washing your hands. If the charm spoils for some reason, do inform us. We love feedback!
